Mission Statement
Prepare Civil and Environmental Engineering students to address current and future
challenges in Earth, energy and the environment by delivering high quality research and
educational programs in engineering and science.
To accomplish its mission, the department will
• Integrate more research into the educational experience.
• Promote cross-disciplinary scholarship and teaching within and beyond CSM.
• Provide an education that also encourages life-long learning.
• Pursue a collegial and diverse faculty, staff and student body.
• Increase the national and international stature of our graduate and undergraduate
programs.
• Increase the placement of graduates in prominent professional and academic
institutions.
• Conduct impactful research, design and service that shape the future of our
profession and society.
