Meadowridge storm drainage improvement project YOUR STORM WATER FEES AT WORK December 9, 2011 Dear Resident, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services held its first public meeting on November 10, 2011 at Living Saviour Lutheran Church for the Meadowridge Storm Drainage Improvement Project. The goals of this project are to reduce flooding of streets and structures, as well as reduce erosion along the stream and channel. • • The meeting presented general project information on Capital Improvement Projects and existing storm water issues within the project area were discussed. Meeting highlights: • • • Project Manager Danee McGee welcomed the attendees and introduced the project team. Scott Sigmon, Project Manager for our design consultant W. K. Dickson, explained the existing storm drainage system as well as deficiencies and variances from City Design Standards. Danee McGee discussed the project’s next steps. The phases and timeframes of a typical storm drainage improvement project were presented: 1. Planning: 12-27 months (current phase) Engineering & Property Management Storm Water Services Division 600 East Fourth Street Charlotte, North Carolina 28202 Meadowridge Project Update HIGHLIGHTS FROM PUBLIC MEETING 2. Design: 21-34 months 3. Bid and Award: 4-5 months 4. Construction: 3 months to more than 2 years Danee made the citizens aware that project updates will be mailed quarterly to keep them informed of progress. A question/answer session was held. Danee invited the residents to form smaller groups to review the existing condition summary maps and to provide additional information about drainage issues in the neighborhood.
