storm drainage improvement project
Dear Resident,
YOUR STORM WATER FEES AT WORK
June 11, 2012
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services held its second public
meeting on June 10 at Living Saviour Lutheran Church for the
Meadowridge Storm Drainage Improvement Project. The goals of this
project are to reduce flooding of streets and structures, as well as
reduce erosion along the stream and channel.
Meeting highlights:
• Project Manager Danee McGee welcomed the attendees and
introduced the project team.
• McGee explained the number and the severity of 311 requests
received from property owners in the neighborhood. Some of the
requests were related to habitual stream flooding, excessive stream
erosion and channel blockages.
• Based upon the current infrastructure problems and the number
and severity of the 311 requests, the City hired WK Dickson to
perform the drainage study on the watershed.
• McGee explained what a Storm Water Project was and that this
drainage study is just one of Charlotte’s many Capital Improvement
Projects.
• McGee discussed public input and reminded attendees how it is
collected for this project: questionnaires mailed at the start of the

project, feedback gathered during the first public meeting and
feedback that would be gathered at the conclusion of this meeting.
Scott Sigmon, Project Manager for WK Dickson reviewed the
problem areas and the solutions developed.
Sigmon discussed the development of alternative solutions
consisting of solutions that did not strictly meet the City Design
criteria, but were instead a compromise between the more
stringent City Design criteria and the citizen input gathered in the
original public meeting. He explained that based on the results of
this public meeting, the alternative solutions will be further refined
so that they reflect any new or additional input gathered.
A question/answer session was held.
