Edwards Branch Phase III storm drainage improvement project YOUR STORM WATER FEES AT WORK January 2009 Background/History of the Project: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services and consulting engineers CH2M Hill have completed the Planning Phase of the Edwards Branch Phase III Storm Drainage Improvement Project. Current Status and Next Steps: Storm Water Services and CH2M Hill continue to move forward in the Design Phase of the Edwards Branch Phase III project areas. During the design phase, construction drawings are developed for the recommended improvements. The improvements that will be designed for this project include stream restoration, stream preservation with buffer and/or stream enhancements, and BMPs* in/near Winterfield Tributary and Evergreen Cemetery. It is anticipated that preliminary construction drawings will be reviewed by the City and shared with the neighborhood this spring. You may also view project updates, exhibits and public meeting minutes on the web at: http://stormwater.charmeck.org (Click on Storm Water Projects, Storm Water Projects again, then Edwards Branch). If you have any questions, please contact the Project Manager, Monica Kruckow, at 704-336-4722 or mkruckow@ci.charlotte.nc.us. *BMP opportunities: Best Management Practices include ponds, constructed wetlands and rain gardens that are used by themselves or in combination to reduce storm water pollution and improve our water quality. It is that time of year when a chill fills the air and snow begins to fall. Sometimes, instead of snow, we get ICE. Next time the weather turns bad and your sidewalk is slick, spread sand to get a grip on that slippery walk. If bad weather strikes the area causing limbs and brush to fall, residents are encouraged to prepare debris to normal collection guidelines (limbs no longer than 5 feet in length and no wider than 4 inches in diameter). The storm debris should be taken to curbside. Do not place debris in storm drains, gutters or on creek banks.
