Math Survivor Game
Objective
Demonstrate concepts of probability and expected returns
Materials
- One six-sided die for each student
- Tokens that represent money
Activity
- Groups of 5 and 6.
- Everyone in the group puts 1 token into the pool.
- Every person rolls one die; the person with the lowest number is eliminated from the game.
- If two people roll the same lowest number, then it’s a draw and everyone re-rolls their dice.
- Survivors can decide to stop rolling dice at any point.
- If that happens, the money in the pool is divided equally among the remaining survivors.
- Keep track of your and your groups winnings on the scoresheet.
-Plot winnings and have students calculate probabilities of survival each round.
