Summary of Experience and Qualifications
The research I have carried out at Colorado School of Mines is aimed to understand and quantify the trapping mechanisms that guarantee an effective immobilization of CO
2
in deep saline formations, reducing the risk of leakage to the human environment. In order to address this issue, my doctoral dissertation included both a laboratory and a modeling component, which combine together to extrapolate and upscale my experimental analysis to actual field scenarios. Overall, my research interests include flow and transport phenomena in porous media. I have been studying and doing research on subsurface hydrology and soil physics for nine years, attending universities in three different countries, as well as multiple international workshops and conferences related to my hydrogeological background. During my academic formation, in addition to my geosciences curriculum, I have taken several graduate courses from interdisciplinary fields such as Chemical, Environmental, Civil, and Petroleum Engineering, which allow me to understand multiphase flow and transport problems from different research perspectives. During my work experience in the environmental consultancy, I gained expertise in applying numerical models to real world scenarios related to management of groundwater resources, aquifer contamination and remediation, and civil underground excavation.
