Kenilworth/Romany storm drainage improvement project September 2011 YOUR STORM WATER FEES AT WORK Dear Resident, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services and engineering consultant, Armstrong Glen, P.C., are in the early planning stages of the Kenilworth/Romany Storm Drainage Improvement Project. The project boundaries are East Boulevard to the southwest, Euclid Avenue to the northwest, Berkeley Avenue and East Morehead Street to the northeast, and Upper Little Sugar Creek to the southeast. The project goal is to reduce street and structure flooding by improving storm drainage infrastructure. The consultant has completed the field survey and has begun working on the existing conditions analysis. The consultant will use your questionnaire responses to identify storm drainage issues. Once complete, we will hold a public meeting in the winter to present the results of the analysis and to receive your input. For more information about this project, please visit our website at http://stormwater.charmeck.org and click on Storm Water Projects drop down menu in the green bar, then Active Projects and Kenilworth/ Romany. Engineering & Property Management Storm Water Services Division 600 East Fourth Street Charlotte, North Carolina 28202 Are you prepared for a flood? Anywhere it rains, it can flood. And floods are Charlotte-Mecklenburg's most common and costly natural disaster. In Charlotte-Mecklenburg, flood risks are especially high in the summer and early fall. Thunderstorms, tropical storms and hurricanes can cause heavy rain and flash flooding. During a Flood: • Pay attention to flood watches and warnings. • Turn around, don’t drown! Don’t walk or drive through floodwater. 80% of flood deaths happen in vehicles. • Be prepared to move to higher ground. For more information, visit http://stormwater.charmeck.org
