Problem: Determining the criteria of bedrooms in relation to electrical requirements.
Solution: A room shall be considered a bedroom for the purpose of electrical requirements when all of the following apply:
1.There is a door separating the room from other areas.
2.The room contains a closet or closets.
3.There is direct egress to the outside by a door or window. (Window must have
a 22 x 20 opening at a maximum height of 44” from the floor.)

This is a general definition, lofts and studios shall be left to the discretion of the
AHJ.
