The Institute for PE and Sport, University of Malta, in collaboration with The Directorate for Quality Standards in Education Curriculum Management and eLearning Department KEYNOTE SPEAKERS PROFILE Prof. Paolo Parisi Prof. Paolo Parisi is Rector and Professor of Biology of the University of Rome “Foro Italico” (IUSM). He has contributed to several topics in human biology, particularly twin research in reproduction and development, and later the genetic and cell biology correlates of sport and exercise in health and aging. He has directed educational and cultural programs on sport and health, and the human body in science and culture. He is also foundation vice-president, International Gymnastics Federation; and acted as president of the European College of Sport Science. Prof. Paolo Parisi is also coordinator of the European Master in Health and Physical Activity, and other international programmes. Dr. Russ Jago Dr Russ Jago is a Senior Lecturer in Exercise, Nutrition & Health Sciences and a NIHR Career Development Fellow at the University of Bristol. Dr Jago's research focuses on how parents and peer groups are associated with children's physical activity patterns. Dr Jago has a particular interest in designing and evaluating complex interventions to change children's activity related behaviours and prevent obesity. Dr. Gary Armstrong Dr. Gary Armstrong is a Reader in the School of Sport and Education, Brunel University, London. He previously worked at the University of Westminster and the University of Reading. His research into sports-related matters has produced a number of publications over the last 15 years. Since 1998, one of his research interests is how football can influence demographic reconstruction in post-conflict areas, mainly Liberia, and more recently Bosnia-Herzegovina. Other research interests include global football, and fan behaviour, with a recent publication regarding Italian Ultras: Football, Fascism and Fandom:The UltraS of Italian Football (A&C Black, Bloomsbury).
