Matters arising:
Jeff C brought the meeting to order at 2:00 pm. Discussion started with A&S 200 and 450. A request for an increase in credit hours from one and
two to three for each course is being put forth. Rationale is that more work is being required in both courses. The courses have current syllabi
attached. A request will go back to the department for the syllabi to be updated to reflect the requested change. A&S 497 has a request to drop
to 3 credits from variable credits to be more in line with other internships. A motion to accept the changes was made and seconded. It passed
unanimously. Discussion continued about the Social Science BA major and why it is offered. After much discussion it was decided to postpone
any decision on this request until the next meeting. The next item was Comm 497. Communication wants to change the credits to variable 1-3
cr. instead of 1-5 variable. Motion was made, approved and passed unanimously to accept the change. Discussion followed about the program
change for the BA in English. The department wants to require only one year of foreign language rather than the two currently required. A
change will be made for the teacher licensure program to reflect the requested changes as well. The motion was made and seconded to
approve the change. It carried with unanimous approval.
