National e-Science Centre Induction to Grid Computing and the National Grid Service (NGS) e-Science Institute 29th September 2005 The recent run of the Induction to Grid Computing and the National Grid Service (NGS) training event was attended by 12 people from a wide range of backgrounds from Arts and Humanities to Bio-Medical and Physics. As with all such events this range of backgrounds provided for cross-disciplinary discussions at breaks and positively contributed to the event. The event included talks and tutorials on many aspects of grid computing from "What are Grids?" to "Job Submission" and "Data Management". A consensus opinion was expressed by the attendees that the event had prepared them for future use of the NGS. Guy Warner
