Global society faces challenges in the complex, inter-related environment of the 21st Century. We question whether we, as a global society, have existing mechanisms to meet these challenges. This paper discusses examples that offer possible guidance. We use published empirical work in three categories to investigate governance and reporting in the realm of social responsibility. We use as exemplars governmental, not-for-profit, and corporate published reports. Two examples come from western world-view reporting, and the other reflects the more holistic view of one group of indigenous peoples.
