Proceedings of 7th Global Business and Social Science Research Conference 13 - 14 June, 2013, Radisson Blu Hotel, Beijing, China, ISBN: 978-1-922069-26-9 Drivers of Responsible Management Education Lovasoa Ramboarisata This paper uses both theoretical and empirical insights in order to advance a set of propositions about the drivers of responsible management education (REM). The latter encompasses the diverse resources (teaching, research, institutional support) business schools are providing in order to educate students about ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability. Specifically, our propositions are founded on hypotheses from institutional theory of organization (perspectives of legitimacy, change, and institutional logics). Moreover, we use preliminary evidence from our empirical research about REM in Canada which tends to corroborate the earlier theoretical suggestions. Our sample is composed of business schools highly ranked on the Beyond Grey Pinstripe and or Corporate Knights’ classifications. Some are also signatories of the United Nations’ Principles of Responsible Management Education.
