INFORMATION: Katrina White Request Staff Resource: Doreen Szymanski, CDOT, 704-336-7527, dszymanski@charlottenc.gov Katrina White appeared before City Council on May 26. She requested that a planned crosswalk installation for the Eastway Drive / Sugar Creek Road intersection be named after her daughter Brittany Palmer, who died from injuries sustained when she was struck by a vehicle at the location on March 13, 2012. The CDOT reviewed the request and determined that the City will install a plaque in the sidewalk in memory of Brittany Palmer. Ms. White is pleased with the response, and is working with the CDOT on exact language for the plaque. Discussions are in progress with the NCDOT on intersection and crosswalk design. A project completion date has yet to be determined. ATTACHMENTS: Council-Manager Memo 6/6/12 Page 2
