Electrical Policy Memo
Electrical Work Covered Prior to County Inspection/
Approval
Revision Date: March 26, 2013
It is understood industry wide, that you must obtain proper permits and proper
inspection of work in progress (see NC Administrative Codes and Policies section
107). It is also understood that from time to time some work may unintentionally
get covered prior to inspection.
We offer the following policy procedure, in lieu of uncovering all interior work, in
the event this situation occurs.
***NOTE***
1. USE OF THIS POLICY IS BY SPECIAL PERMISSION ONLY.
2. THIS IS NOT AN ALTERNATIVE FOR PROPER ROUGH INSPECTIONS AT THE
APPROPRIATE TIME.
3. ONLY JOBS PROPERLY PERMITTED AND INSTALLED BY A LICENSED ELECTRICAL
CONTRACTOR, WHO DOES NOT HAVE A “HIGH INSPECTION FAILURE RATE”, MAY BE
ALLOWED THIS EXCEPTION.
4. NO ONE MAY BE INVOLVED IN USING THE EXCEPTION MORE THAN ONCE IN A
COMPLETE TWELVE MONTH PERIOD.
5. THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE TO THIS POLICY IS COMPLETE REMOVAL OF ALL BUILDING
FINISHES AND INSULATION.
***POLICY***
