Methodology

Two questionnaires addressed to patients and healthcare professionals respectively were adapted ,
validated and tested for reliability. Subsequently the questionnaires were disseminated to all (46)
healthcare professionals and 50 patients at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital. Data was then analysed using IBM
SPSS version 20.
Results
Reliability of the questionnaires according to the Guttmann Split-half coefficient was 0.90 (Healthcare
Professionals Questionnaire) and 0.92 (Patients Questionnaire) showing excellent reliability. Forty-one
healthcare professionals agree that patients should be offered a consultation with a pharmacist and 34
were concerned about safety of anti-cancer drugs. Thirty-one patients thought that IV treatment causes
more side-effects but is more effective.

Conclusion
Pharmacists would contribute by clearing misconceptions and supporting healthcare professionals and
patients in the choice of anti-cancer drugs.
