Abstract
Digital Television as “Integrated Information Device”

ISDB (Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting, Japan’s digital broadcasting system)
has launched in Japan. The receivers of ISDB have digital interfaces of modem,
10BASE-T and IEEE 1394 and they are linked internet, home network and storage
devices. Copyright protection is indispensable to prevent unauthorized use of, or
tampering with, digital contents. Broadcasting system based on home servers is
planned that realizes seamless services of broadcasting, communication and stored
programs. Digital receiver will become an integrated information device in home that
integrates services of on-line study, e-government etc, and internet, digital television
in one device.
