Learners’ statement on curricular learning
Over my school career I feel I have grown in many areas of school life but this year I feel I
have grown in two parts of the curriculum for excellence: effective contributor and
confident individual. I am able to lead and instruct a large group of people and give ideas
and opinions without any hesitation as I know ideas can grow and grow if they are shared.
I have discovered many ways of learning, using different tools from our class virtual tool
box. Using all my tools I feel I am able to contribute effectively in lots of different group
challenges.
I feel that my auto-biography shows my most successful pieces of personal writing because
I was given excellent feedback from both my peers and teacher.
Working with my partner I produced a short presentation to inform my class about a
country within Africa which we had chosen to research.
Being part of the Maths Challenge group within my school allowed me to use my maths
knowledge to complete lots of different tasks with great success. I really enjoy maths and
feel this was a great opportunity for me.
Having been part of lots of lessons with teachers from the High School I feel much more
prepared and not so nervous about moving on.
Learners’ statement on personal achievement
Through the opportunity which I have had this year to be House Captain I feel I have
grown in confidence to speak to a large audience of people and have developed good
organisational skills through this role.
I achieved great personal success during our Robert Burn’s context where I was chosen to
recite ‘Auld Lang Syne’ to the whole school during our class re-write of Tam O Shanter. I
feel that I was able to do this because of my role as House Captain.
This year I have had extra responsibilities as a role model to the younger children. I was a
Squaddy and buddy in which I had to be mature, responsible and caring.
This year I also embarked on one of the most memorable, residential adventures of my life,
Dalguise! Dalguise has made many highlights for my childhood and shown me that
lowlights aren’t always low.
In school this year I was also part of the Athletics team which I really wanted to be part of
because I am involved in lots of sports outside school. I was an effective contributor and as
a team we were successful.
Football is one of main hobbies, I play for Falkirk community where I have been since 2010.
Guiding is another one of my hobbies. We play games and work towards achieving lots of
different badges. I also enjoy the camping experience where I get to meet new people
and experience being independent. My family urge me to try new things and I know have
many more achievements to come.

Parents’ Comment
Learner 1 has developed a number of skills in P7. Being House Captain has helped her to
develop her leadership skills and given her the opportunity to communicate with staff and
pupils.
She has enjoyed being a buddy, this brought out the caring side of Learner 1’s nature.
Learner 1 has become more independent in P7, managing her own time for completing
homework, participating in after school activities etc.
Overall P7 has been a busy year for Learner 1 and been an excellent time to learn new skills
and try things she hasn’t done before. She is a good listener and adapts well to any
challenges.

Learner’s Comments
I have been given lots of opportunities to write various
personal pieces of writing in my auto-biography which has
helped me to develop my skills using paragraphs, complex
punctuation and use more mature vocabulary.
I am very enthusiastic and show a passion in maths. I have
been able to use my knowledge of fractions and use this to
complete problem solving tasks. Maths is my favourite
subject.
I have continued to show myself as an effective contributor
by carrying out all jobs which help the younger members of
my school community. I have had lots of opportunities to
prepare myself for the next stage of my school career.
One of my contexts which I studied was ‘Robert Burns’ and I
can now recite some of his most famous pieces and I felt
confident when reciting these in front of an audience at an
assembly.
I have been given more opportunities this year to learn more
about other cultures and religious beliefs. I worked across
stage with P2 to complete a presentation about Judaism and
during visits to the University learned more about Hinduism.
I have gained more knowledge about the Solar System and
will be able to use the information at secondary school.
I have learned more about the voting system and the roles of
MSPs. I participated in a stage/drama production which help
me to understand the history behind the Scottish government.
I can use the internet with confidence to source information
for a variety of purposes. I am able to select relevant
information and put it into my words which I understand. I am
able to work independently and in groups using different
measuring instruments. I worked effectively to produce WWII
memorabilia.
Through my comparative
research project about an
African country I feel I can take
responsibility for my own learning

creative with the way I
presented my information.
