Instructions to Complete the International Student Financial Statement Form
All international students are required by law to document that they have financial resources adequate to meet the
educational and living expenses required for the duration of study at New Jersey Institute of Technology. This
information must be submitted before a Certificate of Visa Eligibility (Form I-20 or DS-2019) can be issued by the
university.
Please read the following instructions carefully before completing and submitting the NJIT International Student Financial
Statement Form.
Part I
Please answer questions 1 – 5 completely.
Dependent Support (Graduate Students Only):
Financial support documentation must be submitted for any family members who will accompany a student to the United
States.

Bank statement from sponsor(s). Sponsor(s) must sign Verification A on the
form and state relationship to the applicant.
Award letter from the institution awarding the scholarship. The award letter
must contain the name of the applicant, the amount of money available for each
year of study, the duration of the award, and the name of New Jersey Institute of
Technology as the institution to which the award is applicable.
Letter from a lending institution indicating approval of the loan and the amount
approved.
Letter indicating amount of support and containing the same information as for
‘Scholarship’ described above.
All documentation must be dated within six months of the date of enrollment at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Funds should be liquid assets, such as:
o Cash in a savings/checking/money market account
o Stocks or bonds
o Short-term annuities or certificates of deposit
New Jersey Institute of Technology reserves the right to require additional documentation.
