OREI funds research and extension programs that enhance the ability of producers and processors who have already adopted organic standards to grow and market high quality organic agricultural products. Pri- Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) requests applications for Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) to stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies. There are four CIG categories available in FY 2009: Natural Resource Concerns Category, Technology Category, Chesapeake Bay Watershed Category, and Grant Leveraging Category. CIG projects are expected to lead to the transfer of conservation technologies, management systems, and innovative approaches (such as marketbased systems) into NRCS technical manuals, guides, and references or to the private sector. CIG does not fund research projects. It is a vehicle to stimulate the development and adoption of conservation approaches or technologies that have been studied sufficiently to indicate a likelihood of success, and to be candidates for eventual technology transfer or institutionalization. The most important aspect of the Impact Award is the potential of the proposed research to have a radical, revolutionary impact on an area of paramount importance in breast cancer. The research project may be basic, translational, or clinical. Pre and Postdoctoral awards support promising graduate students and new doctoral graduates studying breast cancer for up to three years. Research indicates that survivors are more inclined to seek services from organizations that are familiar with their culture, language and background that there is no one size fits all approach to adequately addressing these critical needs. NIJ is interested in stimulating a scientifically rigorous body of research on the topic of wrongful convictions, specifically focusing on the 200-plus cases of exonerations based on the post-conviction DNA examinations, and comparisons of DNA-based and non-DNAbased exonerations. This solicitation is intended to support a more expansive and empirical examination of wrongful convictions than currently exists. In particular, this solicitation seeks to fund research on post-conviction DNA exonerations in the investigation, trial, and post-conviction stages of the criminal justice process as well as a comparison to non-DNA exonerations. Proposals should seek to optimize the extent of the data that can be collected in each of these three stages. A strong preference will be given to proposals for the collection and analysis of data in all three of these stages.
