Earthquake Early Warning is the Technology that detecting & calculating the epicenter and the scale of the earthquake from the Primary Waves (P-waves), and alarm the warning a certain time (a few to ten and a few seconds) ahead of the arrival of the S-waves. When earthquake occurs, minor initial tremor (Primary Wave) is detected firstly, then a large tremor (Secondary wave) spreads. P Waves S Waves Agency Hypocenter Seismograph near the epicenter detect the tremor (P-waves) and send signal to Meteorological Agency. Page 24 © NEC Corporation 2012 Agency Meteorological Agency immediately analyzes the signal and predicts the arrival time of main tremor & seismic intensity of each area, based on the epicenter and scale of the earthquake, and alarm warning The other seismographs detect the tremor (P-waves) and send signal to Meteorological Agency one after the other. It makes more accurate prediction Agency Trembling after reaching S Waves or thereabout Earthquake Observation System (Tsunami Warning) 1.
