REMINDER – ASSESSMENT OF STUDY-UNITS

All study-units are to be run on a seminar basis and are to be assessed by an examination and an
assignment, as well as the level of the seminar presentation.

The weighted marks of these assessments are as follows:

Assessment of the Assignment
In marking the assignment, the UoM marking system should be employed but the following criteria are
to be followed in assessing the work:
1.2.1 The quality and extent of the academic literature involved, in particular whether the student
has sought to go beyond the proposed bibliography, whether he has used a representative sample of
the seminal texts in the field or referred to them;

The clarity and conciseness of the arguments
1.2.3
The extent to which the assignment is analytical as opposed to being descriptive
1.2.4
Methodology employed pertaining to the discipline involved
1.2.5
Command of language.
1.3
The Presentations made during the seminars are to be judged according to the following matrix:
Evaluating the Presentation During the Seminars
Quality of the three-page synopsis on which the presentation is based
Clarity and whether the presenter has stuck to the subject being discussed
Presentation skills
Reference to the bibliography presented by the course tutor at the start of the course
Ability to synthesize
