How will learning outcomes be assessed? What groups will be included in the assessment?
1) This outcome will be measured by surveys distributed during the sorority recruitment process to all
potential new members (women participating in recruitment). Women who choose to withdraw from
the recruitment process will be given a survey asking for information influencing the decision to leave
the recruitment process. Women who remain in the process will be given a survey on Bid Night asking
them to detail the factors that were important in their decision to affiliate with a sorority. All women
will be asked questions about what they most enjoyed about the process, advice they would give to
women going through the process and have the opportunity to share changes they would recommend
to the process.
2) This outcome will be measured by a post-event survey. Following Greek Leads, a survey will be
distributed to all attendees asking them to indicate the level of content knowledge gained and
awareness of resources available to them in their position.
3) This outcome will be measured via a pre and post-assessment of all council officers. At the beginning of
the officer terms, a meeting will be held with the primary advisor to the position to discuss the
responsibilities of the position, as well as goals and objectives for the year. Progress will be tracked by
the advisor and student throughout the term via regular meetings. At the end of the officer term, a
transition meeting will be held to review the student’s office term, including goals and objectives
accomplished.
3.
When will these outcomes be assessed? When and in what format will the results of the assessment be
discussed?
1) These surveys will be distributed during the recruitment process. Immediately following recruitment,
quantitative data will be processed and analyzed. Qualitative data will be evaluated using a theme sort.
The results of the assessment will be reviewed and discussed by the Greek Affairs staff and council
officers as part of the post-recruitment assessment process. Data will also be shared with chapter
recruitment officers and advisors. Data will be utilized in discussions of changes to recruitment logistics,
as well as revisions to the recruitment rules.
2) Following the completion of the Greek Leads program, which is held at the start of each semester, the
survey will be distributed. The data will then be analyzed. The results of the assessment will then be
reviewed and discussed by the Greek Affairs staff and council offers as part of the post-event
assessment process. Data will be utilized in developing the structure of future Greek Leads programs.
3) Outcomes will be assessed through the terms of the council executive officers. Council officers serve a
calendar year term, so the assessment process will begin at the beginning of the spring semester and
conclude with the end of the officer term in the fall semester. The data collected will be shared with
each individual council officer as a way to develop the officer in his/her position. The advisor will work
to show the student how achieving the learning outcomes of his/her position can be something that is
of benefit beyond his/her time in the position. The benefits of being a council officer will also be utilized
in marketing the positions to future leaders of the organization.
4. What is the unit’s process for using assessment results to improve student learning?
1) Assessment results will be used to improve the recruitment process to ensure that the process
accurately details the realities and benefits of sorority membership.
2) Assessment results will be used to improve the content of Greek Leads. Results will allow this program
to continue to be educational, relevant and beneficial to attendees.
3) Assessment results will be used to provide feedback to current council officers. This will ensure the
officers are having a quality leadership experience that provides them with skills and experiences that
will allow them to be successful beyond their time in the position.
