Yes No ______________________________________________ _______________________________________ Local Address ______________________________________________________________________________________ (Street) (Apt. #) ____________________________________________________ _________________________________ (City) (State) (Zip Code) Phone: ____________________________________________ Email:______________________________ Signature: ____________________________________________ Date: ______________________________ Alternative Break Site Leader Application Information Application materials must be submitted via e-mail by September 18th to altbreak@ksu.edu Candidates will be notified via e-mail if they have been selected for interviews Interviews will be conducted September 21-25 Site Leaders will receive a half stipend for the trip - leaving a remaining balance of $125 o $50 nonrefundable deposit due by November 6th o $75 remaining balance due by November 20th Alternative Break Site Leader Requirements The Winter Alternative Break takes place from Sunday, Jan. 3 – Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 Being a site leader requires an average of 5 hours a week from September 28 – December 11, 2015 - - - Attend all pre and post break meetings and trainings o 5 site leader trainings o 5 one-on-one sessions o 4 team meetings o 1 all-day service-learning intensive on Sunday, November 15 from 1-5pm o 1 post break reflection Pre/Post break leadership o Plan 4 team meetings Figure out what you want your team to cover, what kind of reading they should be doing, etc. o Meet with each one of your team members individually to get to know them o Work with the community partner to create a project plan and set expectations for the break o Work with Alternative Breaks staff to create schedule of service and engagement for the break o Work with the Alternative Breaks staff and your Alternative Breaks teams to determine and actualize the best way for your team to continue learning and staying engaged with the social issue you and your team focused on. On-break leadership o Understand the schedule of service and engagement and guide your team accordingly o Maintain an open line of communication with the Alternative Breaks staff throughout the week o Exercise flexibility and leadership when things do not go as planned o Guide your team through nightly reflections o Support and encourage team members throughout the week Please write a one paragraph response to each of the following essay questions.
