Program Planning timeline and SLO updates
Dennis thanked everyone for stepping up and completing the SLO assessments so
quickly and he discussed the next steps:
 If a program plan is more than two years old, it must be re-done or updated.
(This pertains to DSPS, Assessment, Matric.)
 Incorporate your SLO assessment in your program plan by adding a paragraph
or two about how you assessed your SLO.
 Tie the SLO recommendation to funding; if the funding request is not tied to an
SLO, then sufficient data from another source must be included.
 All funding requests must be rooted in providing Student Success. (For example:
if every student must have an ed plan, more counselors need to be hired; if
there is no funding for counselors then there must be back up plans such as
group counseling or online counseling.)
The SSC came up with a six-year cycle for program plans and yearly updates. A form
will be designed for the yearly updates. The first program review updates will be due in
Spring 2013. (There is no update due the year of a new program plan.)

Student Success Act of 2012 (SSTF): Enrollment priorities
Dennis will email everyone the draft of enrollment priorities.
 SB1456: Renames Matriculation program as Student Success Act.


SB1440: Any students, including those with state mandated enrollment priorities,
who are in progress dismissal in fall 2012, will be notified in spring 2013 that
they could lose enrollment priorities for fall 2014.
All first-time freshmen will be required to assess, attend an orientation, and have
an ed plan.
eAdvise discussion: Marcy Wieland
Marcy explained there is a bug between the eAdvise, Datatel, Sequel data systems
where students are able to change their majors themselves online in WebAdvisor, but
the majors are not necessarily attached to an ed plan which could cause problems. This
bug can be fixed, but there could be implications with financial aid, FTTW, EOPS, etc.
The question for the committee is whether to continue to allow students to be able to
change their majors online and who should be responsible for making this decision.
Counseling will obviously be impacted.
When registering, the student is prompted to verify address, etc. There was discussion
about the ability to click on something like “my goal has changed” which would take
them to information about how to change their major.
Flex Week presentations
Dennis encouraged everyone to make a presentation during Flex Week. He would like
to see more Student Services component members presenting Student Services-focused
issues to faculty for their awareness and also for their assistance in helping with
Student Success.
Campus closures in January 2012
The Board approved closing the campus on January 2, 3, 4, 11, and 18. Please inform
staff of these dates and post notices of these closures in your offices and on your
websites.
Change of waitlist notification from 8 to 5 days: Rachel
Presently students have eight days to register when notified about clearing the waitlist.
After discussion, the SSC agreed that five days should be sufficient as it is the student’s
responsibility to check WebAdvisor regarding their waitlist status.
Online training for staff (Kognito): Katie
Katie provided a training demo of Kognito, which is an online stress/suicide prevention
training. There are trainings for staff, faculty, administrators, and students. To access
training, go to kognitocampus.com/faculty/ccc and use the enrollment key: ccc8752.
This information has been/will be shared at Student Senate, Faculty Senate, IAC, Flex
Week, and managers should share with staff.
