1) Correctly log in with your name and course name to KeyboardingPro.
2) Complete Lessons 1-13 in KeyboardingPro and turn in required Reports.
3) Complete Required 2-minute Timed Writings in KeyboardingPro, each with I EPM (maximum of 2 errors), turn
in required reports, showing a speed of 25WAM by Lesson 11.
4) Complete three 2-minute timed writings with a minimum speed of 25WAM with 1 EPM (maximum of 2 errors).
This final exam is done in the Computer Technology Center, in the presence of your instructor.
YOU MAY NOT LOOK AT YOUR FINGERS OR KEYS WHILE KEYBOARDING
This is a requirement to pass the course
A more detailed Instruction Sheet is available from your instructor. (This is a short description.)
See handouts in the lab for how to log on to the computers and load your keyboarding program.
Follow the instructions below and refer to your Student Progress Sheet to guide you through your work
Alphabetic Lessons 1 through 13: (Note: do not complete the exercises using the textbook in these lessons – you
will only need to use the textbook in the “Timed Writings” section of the software)
1) Log into KeyboardingPro (see Instructions):
2) Click on the “Lessons” tab, then click on lesson 1; follow screen instructions.
3) Notice that lesson 1 has about eight exercises (drop-down list at upper right): “Learn Home Row, Learn Enter
and Space, Practice Home Row, Textbook Keying, Learn i, Improve Keystroking, Build Skill, and Lesson
Report.” Complete all sections except for the “Textbook Keying” and “Timed Writing” exercises. All other
exercises can be completed without the textbook. Do not print “Lesson Reports.” As you complete each
exercise, the program automatically moves to the next section (completed exercises are indicated by a green
checkmark). For practice, you will need to repeat the entire lesson a 2nd time.
4) The question “Repeat this exercise? Y or N” appears at the end of each section: If you have not learned the
letters without looking at the keys or your fingers, repeat the exercise until you feel you have learned
properly. You may repeat the exercises as many times as needed. Press “Y” or “N” accordingly.
Timed Writings: After completing each set of lessons, click on the “Timed Writings” section of the software and
complete the associated 2-minute textbook timed writings listed on the front of this Progress Sheet, achieving
1EPM accuracy.
