• At the end of the month when rent is due in a few days and people are sweating trying to figure out where the money will come from
• When students are working and going to school so they don’t have to burden their parents anymore
• When gas is $2.80 per gallon and that is cheap!

Why does this need occur?
• Former high wage jobs have left the United
States and been outsourced to overseas where the same job can be done for pennies on the dollar
• A living wage for one person in Santa Cruz
County is so high the jobs available do not meet the income range needed to live

A series of workshops to help residents of
Santa Cruz County understand how to:
– manage their finances
• deal with debt so that it is not as overwhelming as it is currently
• save for the future
• grow their savings
– increase their long-term income
• find careers that suit their strengths
• create a plan to get the education required for that career
Support groups for participants:
– to learn from each other how they are managing
