Cabrillo College ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY AND CONTRACT EDUCATION CLASSIFIED ADMINISTRATOR JOB DESCRIPTION The Assistant Director of Community and Contract Education assists in the management and supervision of the Cabrillo College Community and Contract Education Program and other fee-supported programs. SCOPE Under the direction of the Director of Community and Contract Education, the Assistant Director of Community and Contract Education is responsible for overseeing, developing and executing training, consulting, and contracts with business and industry, including fee-based and apportionment supported instruction; works with businesses to identify training needs; coordinates the development of training curriculum; identifies and oversees the contract employment of qualified instructors, trainers, and consultants; and manages the sales and delivery of training services. The Assistant Director of Community and Contract Education also oversees selected programs within the Community Education Program, such as professional development courses; manages selected industry partnerships and facilitates communication between industry and the college. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES • • • • • • • • • • • • Manages strategic business partnerships and serves as a liaison between businesses and the college, including oversight of specified industry partnerships (E) Initiates and coordinates systematic outreach and communication activities with the business community to develop training and development contracts that meet community needs and maintain and enhance the college image (E) Assesses client needs and interests to develop and plan training and non-training interventions (e.g. coaching, consulting, facilitation and project work) (E) Responds to company inquiries and makes various presentations related to employee performance improvement (E) Develops, plans, directs, and implements a balanced curriculum of fee-supported and Contract classes and events that promote the educational goals of the college (E) Ensures that all community education courses and activities enhance the image of the college in the community and activities appropriately complement credit course offerings of the college (E) Coordinates contract education classes in cooperation with instructional divisions and with consultants; oversees the development of curricula as needed for training programs (E) Manages contract revenue streams and maintains accurate and up-to-date budgets for customized training contracts to ensure a self-supporting program (E) Performs business consulting and training services as needed including developing instructional resources such as course outlines, participant guides, and job aids (E) Ensures the quality of contract training and professional development programs; evaluates training and program effectiveness (E) Reviews, negotiates, and approves contracts, contract education fee-supported instructor agreements and other relevant business agreements (E) Develops and maintains appropriate databases, files and records in support of customized training and employee performance improvement projects (E) Assistant Director of Community and Contract Education Page 2 EXAMPLE OF DUTIES (continued) • • • • • • • • • • Recruits, selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff and instructors who provide contract education and professional development program services; evaluates classified support staff (E) Develops and manages open enrollment professional development programs and courses. Provides consulting and training services for college departments, classified and administrative staff (E) Develops, manages, promotes and ensures the success of selected programs within the Community Education portfolio (E) Assists in the preparation of the Community and Contract Education program annual report, and other reports and analyses as required; makes presentations before the Governing Board and other groups as required (E) Interprets and maintains compliance with pertinent federal, state, and local laws, and contractual regulations (E) Participates in professional organizations and keeps abreast of current ideas, research, practices, and trends (E) May act on behalf of the Director of Community and Contract Education in his/her absence Serves on various college committees and participates in professional organizations as appropriate to assignment.
