B16-01 Year 3, Prop 39, Lighting Project
1) #12 of the Notice Calling for Bids (Page 7)
#12 of the Notice Calling for Bids states pre-bid inquiries will be taken not less
than 7 days before the bid due date. Is the deadline for questions 10/13/15 @
2PM or 10/15/15 @ 2PM (Page 7)?
Page 5, Notice Calling for Bids specifically states the RFI Questions are due by
10/13/15 @ 2:00PM. It also states the date and time on the cover page of the bid
documents.
2) 2.1 of the General Conditions (Page 81)
2.1 Of the General Conditions (page 81) states “except as otherwise provided in
the contract documents the District shall secure and pay for necessary
approvals, etc.” Are there permits that the District will require the contractor
to obtain?
The Contractor is not responsible for any permits.
3) 3.1.8 of the General Conditions (Page 85)
Are any of the lights being replaced not functioning? If so, or if a nonfunctioning light is found is the troubleshooting and repair:
a) Included in the contract?
b) Change order will be issued?
c) Repairs will be made by District Personnel?
Cabrillo is not aware of any non-functioning lights in the field. If any nonfunctioning lights are found we will address on a case by case basis and either

4) Section 16 of the Special (Page 150)
16.1 in the Special Conditions asks for $2,000,000/$4,000,000 limits for
commercial liability and states builders risk insurance is required. This seems
excessive for a lighting retrofit of this size. Can you confirm that the types and
limits listed in section 16 of the Special Conditions (page 150) are the policies and
limits required for this specific contract?
16. Insurance Coverages, 16.1 Contractor Insurance Page 150, Special
Conditions. Please note Builders Risk is not required, as stated on page 150.
The Commercial General Liability is requested at $2,000,000/$4,000,000.
For Subcontractors the Commercial General Liability is requested at
$1,000,000/$2,000,000.
5) Section 2-1.1A of the Specifications
Section 2-1.1A of the specifications state that demolition, waste becomes property
of contractor. During the job walk it was stated that the District would be
recycling the old fixtures. Please state specifically which part of the demolition
waste the contractor is responsible for disposal, and if the contractor is
responsible for bins for disposal/recycling and what the district will recycle.
Waste is property of the Contractor as stated in the specifications.

It was also brought up, several times, at the job walk to reference the Bid

6) A scissor lift or similar type vehicle will be required for some installations. Can
we leave this type of vehicle on campus overnight or will we have to deliver it to
the job site every day we are using it?
A scissor lift can be stored on campus in an approved designated area. The
Contractor is responsible for all risks associated with storing the equipment.
(Theft, vandalism, etc.)
7) No addendum has been issued for the safety chains in the gym. It was stated in
