BDC12S-10 Page 1 of 2 New Jersey Department of Transportation 1035 Parkway Avenue, PO Box 600, Trenton, New Jersey 08625-0600 Baseline Document Change Announcement ANNOUNCEMENT: BDC12S-10 DATE: February 15, 2013 SUBJECT: Temporary Traffic Stripes and Markings - Revision to Subpart 159.03.06 and Subsection 159.04 of the 2007 Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction Revision to CD-159-2 and TCD-1 of the 2007 Standard Roadway Construction-Traffic Control Details, BDC12D-04 dated Feb 14, 2013 REFERENCE: Subpart 159.03.06 and Subsection 159.04 of the 2007 Standard Specifications have been revised to establish the Department’s policy on temporary traffic stripes and markings. This BDC Announcement must be read in conjunction with the referenced BDC Announcement. The following revision has been incorporated into the Standard Input SI2007 as of February 15, 2013. SECTION 159 – TRAFFIC CONTROL 159.03.06 Temporary Traffic Stripes and Temporary Traffic Markings THE ENTIRE TEXT IS CHANGED TO: Apply temporary traffic stripes and markings when the ambient and surface temperatures are at least 45 °F and rising and the surface temperature is no more than 140 °F. Apply the traffic paint in a wet film thickness of 6 ± 1 mil. Apply glass beads to the wet paint in a uniform pattern and at the rate of 12 pounds per gallon of paint. Ensure TRAFFIC STRIPES, LONG LIFE, EPOXY RESIN and TRAFFIC MARKINGS, THERMOPLASTIC are applied within 14 days of placing temporary traffic stripes and markings unless directed by the RE. 159.04 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT THE FOLLOWING IS ADDED The Department will make payment for TRAFFIC STRIPES, LONG LIFE, EPOXY RESIN and TRAFFIC MARKINGS, THERMOPLASTIC as specified in 610.04. Implementation Code R (ROUTINE) Changes must be implemented in all applicable Department projects scheduled for Final Design Submission at least one month after the date of the BDC announcement.
