Focus on ADT (associate degree for transfer) courses, development of a common course management system (CCMS) for use at little or no cost to participant colleges and built to specification, faculty professional development in online pedagogy, and providing student support tools such as online tutoring. The selection team made a recommendation to select 24 colleges for the pilot to participate on three tracks. We are in the track that will pilot the student readiness modules. Select 5 online courses to represent Cabrillo in the Exchange. All will be reviewed by a selection committee appointed by the OEI consisting of online instructors from across the CCCs. Ari suggested we go ahead and survey DE students at Cabrillo. ASCCVP@gmail.com Georg was interested to know the most commonly offered DE courses statewide. Review with Distance Education Committee the Santa Cruz Economic Report request for increased distance education courses and sections for students [postponed to next mtg] Implement DE plan: to include increases in online sections and new online courses Nancy would like to see more discipline-specific DE training and discussions of best practices; ENGL dept did this for fall flex week. Georg suggested opportunities for DE instructors to share methods and techniques, and possibly separate out business/oversight part of meeting.
