Graham Norris – biography Before joining HMIE in 1993, Graham had been a principal teacher of music in two secondary schools, gaining experience of both the Scottish and English education systems. Shortly after joining HMIE, Graham was appointed national specialist for music. Since then he has gained experience in a variety of lead roles, including ICT in learning and teaching, creativity, inclusion, and District Inspector duties. Since being appointed Assistant Chief Inspector in 2005, Graham has taken a lead role developing improved approaches to inspection and for ensuring high-quality inspections and reports. Most recently Graham led the publication of Learning Together: Opening Up Learning which illustrates good practice in how schools evaluate and improve the quality of the learning they provide so that it has a positive impact on learners
