What we’re looking for:
A) Short Articles – these are original academic pieces of policy based research, and can be
written on anything that piques the author’s interest. We encourage submissions that cover a
range of topics within international public policy including, but not limited to: foreign policy,
economics, politics, governance, environment, security and human rights. Words: 750 - 1500.
B) Opinion Pieces – a more informal commentary on any issue of your choice. You should give a
short outline of the issue, but the most important thing is that you write persuasively and in a way
that can spark debate. Words: 500 - 800
C) Event Summaries – we would love to hear about any external events that you have attended.
For all summary pieces, try and include a short paragraph at the end on your overall thoughts
and impressions of the ideas discussed in the talk. Words: 500 – 800.
D) “A Day in the Life Of” – these are short pieces by current students enlightening the rest of us
as to what their previous jobs where, how they got there and what led them to choose to do a
Masters after. Words: 600 – 800.
E) International Policy Updates – anything interesting policy wise going on in your home
country? We’d like to hear about it. French security measures, Chinese one child policy lifted;
anything at all. Words: 200 – 500.
If you wish to write-up on anything related to these categories, or if you have any enquiries or
blog posts to submit, please send an email to Josh Warland (joshua.warland.11@ucl.ac.uk) or
Ellen Judson (ellen.judson.15@ucl.ac.uk).
