A little history on School Lunch Programs:
In 1946, President Harry S Truman signed the National
School Lunch Act.
As such, he is quoted as saying,
“Today as I sign the NSLA, I feel that Congress has acted with great wisdom in providing the basis for strengthening the nation through better nutrition for our schoolchildren.
….
I Hope that all state and local authorities will cooperate fully … in establishing a cooperative school lunch in every possible community.”
Today, the RSS ‐ Child Nutrition Program is an intricate part of the Rowan ‐ Salisbury School
System.
