MASSAGE THERAPY
You want to be in a hands-on career that allows you to provide
improved health and well-being to others. You know there
are few feelings that beat the state of relaxation we find
ourselves in after a great massage. Why not get a job
where you know your client will be leaving with a
smile on their face? Northampton’s Massage
Therapy certificate program teaches you
about the human body and the way
it works, and you’ll get plenty of
opportunity to try your hand
on fellow students and
massage clients.
WHY IS THIS PROGRAM FOR YOU?
»» You’ll work in an on-campus practice laboratory, applying therapeutic treatment plans and appropriate massage techniques
while focusing on whole body wellness.
»» Your supervised clinical instruction will be with a field professional who will make sure you develop client-based skills and
can master basic competencies first before progressing to more challenging skills.
»» Graduates are eligible to sit for the Massage and Body Work Licensing Exam (MBLex).
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
»» Anatomy & Physiology courses will provide you with a thorough introduction to the human body, including the skeletal,
muscular and nervous systems. The second semester covers the circulatory, lymphatic, endocrine, respiratory, digestive,
urinary, and reproductive systems.
»» Second-semester Kinesiology covers how the body’s three major systems (skeletal, muscular, nervous) factor into human
movement and athletic performance.
