Call to Order
o At 10:34 pm President Peter Wynn-Reifsnyder called the 2nd General
Assembly meeting of 2011-2012 to order

 Over 20 residents attended their hall meeting
 First event is planned for Sunday

 Planning on making a feedback board for residents to give
feedback on

 What is it?
o A set of rules for conduct at meetings that allows
everyone to be heard and to make decisions without
confusion.
 Examples

 Pertains to personal comfort
o Point of Parliamentary Inquiry
 Asking the chair the best way of going about
an action
o Point of Information
 Generally applies to information desired from
the speaker
 Ex. “What are we currently voting on?”
o Point of Order
 Infraction of the rules, or improper decorum in
speaking
 Making a Motion
o One motion must be concluded before creating
another
o How do we use motions?
 Agenda approval
 Call for a vote
 Go into debate
 Limit debate/speaking time
 Divide a motion
 Adjournment
 Etc.
 General Rules
o Wait for the speaker to finish speaking before making
a motion or asking a question
o Be respectful
o Speak loudly and clearly
o Don’t call out individuals
o Be mindful of what you say
 Dining Services Project Team
 McDonalds will be replaced
 Had two bids for the space
 Only one met all of the requirements
 Currently in the process of approving the new vendor

o Vice President of Advocacy and Community Coordination
 Working on the Dining Forums
 Will come to GA to get feedback once the bid goes through
 Will send out a deputy application soon
 Deputy will help with many resolution issues

 Hall of the Year (HOTY) Points
 Point structure will change
 Send Kate your meting agendas, minutes, etc. to get points
 Housing Task Force
 Will discuss interesting options in on-campus housing
 One seat on the committee is reserved for a GA member

o Your Hall President can appoint any vacant positions

 Has been working on the RHA Budget for presentation to GA

 Meetings are Wednesdays at 7pm in the RHA office

 Campus-wide Manhunt game, co-sponsored by Paramount Pictures

o A lot of hard work is overlooked. Recognition helps
motivate.
 What are OTMs?
o Online formal recognition by NRHH of the person,
organization, event, or group
o Nominate a student, event, organization, spotlight,
community, RA, DR, RD, DC, and much more!
o DUE ON THE 5TH OF EACH MONTH
 How to nominate:
o aurha.org > Recognition > OTMs
 What happens next?
o OTM Council reads the OTMs and judges which are
the best in each category
o Winning OTMs are sent to the regional competition
