New Business
o Pride Bucks Fund Request
 Presented by RA Lindsay
 Insight to Pride Buck planning provided
 Requesting $500
 Money allocated based on what we get from hall councils and RHA
 Want residents to benefit even if they don’t have Pride Bucks
 South Campus houses more than ½ of all residents
 Had about 400 residents attend last semester
 Ran out of prizes an hour into the event
 Trying to get as many prizes as possible
 Pride Bucks events are a tradition, happen every semester on both
sides of campus
 Last South Campus event of the year
 Using RHA money for pizza, drinks, about $137 for prizes
 Examples of prizes from last semester: ramen, ipod shuffle, pots and
pans, themed basket, headphones, glow sticks, candy, DVDs
 Summer/beach theme
 Don’t plan prizes in advance, follow the sales and bulk
 Have been talked to outside vendors about donations
 Trying to stretch budget as far as possible, watching for sales
 Questions?
• How much money would you need?
o $430 last semester, ran out of prizes early
o Asking for $500
o About $280 for pizza, will double check to make sure
it’s the best deal
o Trying to make the money go as far as possible
• What much money are you already getting?
o Centennial $80
o Centennial programming $175, already spent about
$100 on decorations and logistics
o Lecloper $200
o Lecloper programming $200
o Anderson $200
o Anderson programming $300
• What is the difference in where the money came from?
o Hall council budgets vs. RA budgets
• What were the hall council donations last semester?
o Roughly the same
 Point: what is in the discretionary fund?
• Over $1380
 Pro/con
• Pro
o Serving half of the campus population
o Last semester event was awesome
o Have money left over in the budget
o $500 is reasonable
Con
o North Campus isn’t getting anything out of it
o North Campus will probably ask for money
• Pro
o More people on South Campus to come to the event
o Give people events where they live
• Pro
o Serving more than half of on campus residents
o Haven’t touched the hall discretionary fund
• Information: what are we doing about the deficit?
o Don’t take this into consideration, spend the money
allocate
• Pro
o Good event
o 400 people attended last semester
o Have the money to be spent
Motion to go into open discussion for 5 minutes, seconded
Open Discussion
• Can we give whatever we want?
o Can give money or no
o Can stipulate how much money to give
• North Campus might ask for money later
• Maybe $400 to keep both sides equitable
• When is the deadline for fund requests?
o Devon needs all information by April 25
o Probably a week to a week and a half before that
o Two weeks
o April 17 is the last GA to vote
• North Campus has lower turn out and less people
• Other requests can arise, not trying to hurt the event
• Money coming from the RA fund
o Money reserved for just the RAs and committees
o Requested from the RA Grant Fund
• Hall discretionary is not associated with this request
• $500 is still in hall discretionary
• Not much time for people to request after this GA
Motion for a voice vote on the fund request, seconded
• Objection
o Con
 Want to give more money to the event
o Pro
 Asked for $500, planned for that
o Con
 Not much time left
 Consider giving more money and give to North
Side if they ask later
o Pro
 Leave some roll over
 Only asked for $500
o Con
 Residents paid a fee
 Want to spend the money on the residents
 Deficit is important but spend it if possible
 Could want more money
•



o
o
•
Pro




Con


More prizes help more people
Hall councils have already given some money
Total contribution would be over $900
Don’t need to give more than we asked
Deficit has been accounted for, ignore that
Point of spending the money is to help
residents
 Maximizing the money going back to residents
 Give as much as we can
o Call the question: voting to vote on whether or not to
give $500
 Vote: 15-15-1, tied
 Chair vote: aff, motion passes
 16-15-1, passes
• Point: Does voting no say no?

o Yes gives them $500
