Our project for GYBC looked at opportunities for adaptation to coastal erosion in Scratby and California. This included identification of obstacles and barriers that affect the potential for adaptation and covered areas such as funding, legislation, policy and practicality. Our project for BCKLWN (as part of the wider NNDC Pathfinder) has looked at equitable mechanisms for securing contributions to cover the costs of flood defences for the coastline between Wolferton Creek and South Hunstanton. This followed identification in the SMP2 of the need for local solutions to the potential funding shortfall. Both projects have involved significant engagement with the local communities and have given the communities the opportunity to determine how, when and where they would like to respond to the potential increased flooding or erosion risk.
