Welcome to Leamington Peace Festival 2011!
“In a town that has no carnival, the Peace
Festival is indisputably the biggest event in the
town every summer. Its success has been all the
more notable given its anti-commercial ethos,
and the fact it costs nothing to visit.
The best this recession can do for us is take
us on a path away from blinkered money and
status-driven aspirations and towards more deeply rewarding
pursuits; this is what the Peace Festival stands for, and why we
need it more than ever.”
Leamington Courier
”Someone once said a long time ago: walking into the Pump
Room Gardens during the Festival is like walking through a
bead curtain into a better world.Long may that continue.”
Janet Alty, Festival Chair 1983 - 1988
Thanks for coming to the Leamington Peace Festival, there is a fantastic programme of events planned for
the weekend, we hope you enjoy the music, the workshops & the kids zone, have fun browsing the stalls,
and be inspired by the campaigning groups that are doing their best to make this world a better place.
There has been a free Festival in Leamington since 1976, the 1st Leamington International Peace Festival
was in 1978. The current committee are really proud to be part of an event that has continued annually
ever since, that has always been run by a team of unpaid volunteers.
Please come and say hello to us at the Information Caravan – right in the
centre of the park. We’d love to hear what you think about the Festival &
find out a bit more about you
The Festival would like to thank:
All the Action 21 staff & volunteers for litter recycling
Warwick District Council
Pam Dunsdon
Meg Bell for her cover design
Dave Steele for programme design – www.dmac.co.uk
Elizabeth Billinger, Accountant
All the artists, workshop leaders, performers and speakers, the majority
of whom have given their time for free.
THE CREW - all the volunteers that have worked so hard over the
weekend and leading up to the festival for their time and ensuring a
smooth running weekend.
And to you for coming!
Enjoy!. .

At the heart of the Festival ethos is our belief that we all have the power to make the world a more

the speakers this weekend, and visiting the campaigning stalls, everyone in the audience will find
something that empowers and inspires them to actively work towards this. Even if you’ve never
thought of yourself as an activist, just listen and you’ll be surprised how much impact just one small

At the heart of the Festival ethos is our belief that we all have the power to make the world a more peaceful and respectful
place. There are many different ways to do this; we hope that by listening to the speakers this weekend, and visiting the
campaigning stalls, everyone in the audience will find something that empowers and inspires them to actively work towards
this. Even if you’ve never thought of yourself as an activist, just listen and you’ll be surprised how much impact just one small
act can have.
