Safety Induction SimuLab’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy requires all persons entering the site to undergo a workplace induction. The type of induction will vary according to the parts of the site visited by the person and the nature of activities undertaken by the person. All persons will receive the generic section of the induction package, whilst induction to specific workplace hazards and control measures will only be received by those who are required to enter particular areas. For example, specific items pertaining to chemical safety will be presented in the induction package for those required to enter the chemical laboratories. The steps involved in conducting the safety section of the workplace induction are listed below. Step 1. Show the generic sections of the induction video. This must include at least the background information section, the emergency procedures section, and the fire prevention section. Step 2. Outline the details of, and provide a copy of SimuLab’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy. All occupational health and safety responsibilities for those entering the workplace should be clarified. Step 3. Identify the areas of the workplace to be accessed by the inductee and consult the risk register to check which other sections of the induction video need to be presented. Ensure that the inductee clearly understands all workplace hazards and control measures as well as safe operating procedures. Step 4. Complete the SimuLab Employee Induction form, 05-009, and forwarded it to the Human Resources Manager. 02-002
