Transmission and Distribution: AREVA wins electrical
Balance of Plant contract for Madhya Pradesh Power

AREVA’s Transmission and Distribution (T&D) division in India has been
awarded a prestigious eBOP (electrical Balance of Plant1) contract by
L&T Power2 for state utility Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Ltd
(MPPGCL).

This major contract, worth approximately 1200 MINR (€18 million), is for the
supply and installation of electrical Balance of Plant solutions for two 600 MW
thermal power plants at Malwa in southwest Madhya Pradesh.

As part of the project, AREVA T&D will manufacture and install a 400/220 kV
Air-insulated Substation (AIS), as well as distribution and power transformers and
low voltages switchboards.
The Malwa plant is scheduled for commissioning in September 2011. The project
is being funded by the state government and the Power Finance Corporation.
“This electrical Balance of Plant project at Malwa is AREVA T&D’s third such
contract in India in recent years,” said Rathin Basu, Country President and

the two previous orders and underlines AREVA T&D’s expertise in electrical
Balance of Plant solutions.”
