Sustainable Energy Networks: AREVA T&D promotes research and
education in France at the Ecole Centrale de Lyon
Paris, November 26, 2009
AREVA’s Transmission and Distribution (T&D) division has signed a strategic
partnership with the Ecole Centrale de Lyon (ECL), one of the world’s most
prestigious engineering schools, aiming to create research and training programs
on Sustainable Energy Networks.
AREVA T&D engineers will work in collaboration with ECL students and
professors to further develop the quality of ECL’s engineering training program
and coordinate joint research and innovation projects on sustainable energy.
Using their industry expertise, the engineers will also work with the ECL to
promote energy efficiency on the campus though energy management and
eco-design initiatives, as well as supporting students in environment education
projects.

This new alliance will strengthen the relationship between AREVA T&D’s
experienced engineers and the young engineers of the future, and will pave the
way for increased cooperation between educational institutes and the
Transmission and Distribution industry.
Gerhard Seyrling, AREVA T&D’s Senior Vice President, Innovation &
Performance Improvement, has been welcomed as a new member of the
Scientific Committee of the ECL. Speaking after the signing of the partnership, Mr
Seyrling commented, “AREVA T&D and the Ecole Centrale de Lyon have had a
productive relationship for many years. This strategic partnership will strengthen
our connection and position the ECL as one of the first and foremost training
partners of AREVA T&D in Europe, and as a center of scientific excellence in
global research and development.”
Professor Patrick Bourgin, Director of the Ecole Centrale de Lyon added, “Our
close partnership with AREVA T&D will strongly contribute to our leadership in
research and education in the strategic field of sustainable energy.”
