What are my options ..... what should I do?
 Study at a partner university in Germany or Austria
via the Erasmus+ scheme (1 or 2 Semesters) ....
 ... teach as an ELA (English Language Assistant) at a
German or Austrian school via the British Council ...
 ... take a work placement, usually in conjunction with
one semester at a university
University placements
- students wanting to go to Berlin, Cologne or Munich
have to commit to the whole year, i.e. they will not be
allowed to go on a work placement in the second half of
the YA
- Ger/Bus students normally choose a university
placement in the first half and a work placement in the
2nd half of the YA

- Forms have to be returned by 4th December 2015

 Online application process to the British Council

during the Autumn term.
Applications are competitive, a very tight timeline.
By Spring 2016, successful candidates informed:
rejections and waiting lists.
Teach up to 12 hours per week, conversation.
Salary , health insurance, plus Erasmus status and
money.
Help with accommodation/ Betreuungslehrer/in.
Apply by preference to Bundesland – all areas.

 Meeting for Online Application Process on Tuesday,
3 November 2015 at 5pm in H211

 Final sign-up list by Friday, 6 Nov, 12 noon
 Information regarding BC Online Application Process will
be available on the German Studies website
 NB Info to personal tutors as soon as you decide!
 deadline to complete online application process: Friday,
November 27 (references from personal tutors)
MLang candidates
 Certain options ruled out:
 You MUST study at university (Berlin or Konstanz).
 60 CATS (30 ECTS).
 Preparatory work for 4th yr dissertation.
