Develop and foster community partnerships with local and regional K‐12 schools, community service and outreach projects and life‐long learning opportunities for the community and the region. 2. Develop instrument to measure excellence across all programs and program foci (Area Fs) in Math and Physical Sciences. 3. Develop new academic concentrations and private and public sector partnerships for the benefit of the region and the state. 4. Increase access to and completion of Bachelor of Science Programs and successful transfer to professional programs. Outcomes 1. Continue excellent M&PS participation in the Science Olympiad. 2. Continue M&PS participation in Service‐STEM summer camp. 3. Continue to have faculty and student participation in the Adopt‐A‐Stream and Rivers Alive! projects. 4. Continue to have faculty provide opportunities for the local community to participate in astronomy observations. 5. Define Excellence. 6. Develop and implement instrument to measure new student aptitude. 7. Develop and implement instrument to measure aptitude of students completing the AS program and the BS Math programs. 8. Identify and develop measurements in courses in Math and Physical Sciences that can be used to measure aptitude of students who do not complete programs. 9. Wastewater partnership with the City of Barnesville and ETG. 10. Increase M&PS student participation in summer programs in scholarship and service and internship. 11. Increase successful completion rate for Math 1111 for students who entered Gordon State College in Learning Support Math. 12. Increase Associate of Science program completion rate, or successful transfer of students to Bachelor of Science and Professional programs at other colleges and universities. 13. Increase BS Math completion rates. 14. Increase successful completion rates for M&PS courses for students in the BS Biology Program. Review of Outcomes 1. Nearly 100% of M&PS faculty participated in the Science Olympiad. Department will continue to promote Science Olympiad participation across campus. 2. All Learning Supports students were registered for a co‐requisite or year‐long pathway to reduce the length complete a college level math course. Evidence of Improvement 1. MPS faculty will continue to provide opportunities for local community to participate in astronomy observations. 2. Results will be discussed with learning support director and math faculty to better improve the program. 3. Strategies will be discussed with the Dean of Arts and Sciences to improve the transfer rate. 4. Enrollment in program has not increased. New strategies will be initiated FY16. 5. Pilot learning support co-requisite courses for MATH 1001 and MATH 1111. 2. Plan and codify learning support reforms for implementation in Fall 2014. 3. Revise the assessment for the BS Mathematics program to align with current SACSCOC expectations. Outcomes 1. Increase success in passing Area A mathematics courses in support of Complete College Georgia. 2. A revised assessment process that incorporates Program Outcomes and Student Learning Outcomes into our assessment procedures. Please note: Prior to the 2013-2014 school year, this unit was “Math and Natural Sciences.” 2012-2013 Goals 1. 2. 3. 4. Complete reorganization of Radiologic Science major. Increase number of faculty/student research mentorships. Recertify GAPS club. Research, plan and propose changes in math remediation education integrating into (Just-inTime) MATH 1001 and MATH 1111. Outcomes 1. Conform to the organization at Georgia Health Sciences University. 2. Better prepared and competitive science students. 3. Better equipped and competitive science students preparing to enter the professional health care fields. 4. Increase success in passing Area A math course in support of Graduate College Georgia. 2011-2012 Goals 5. Reorganize Diagnostic Sonography, Nuclear Medical Technology, and Radiologic Technology under one major: Radiologic Science. 6. Increase number of Faculty/Student research mentorships. 7. Increase number of clubs, organizations and/or outside-of-classroom activities for math and science majors. Outcomes 1. Radiologic Science major in MNS. 2. Two more mentorships. 3. One more club. President’s Summer Research Initiative Grants increased from three to six. GAPS (Gordon Association of Professional Students) formed as club students majoring/interested in health care professions. 5. Tri-Beta (Biology honors club) chartered in April 2012.
