DESY, Hamburg location, is seeking:
Physicist or Chemist (f/m)
DESY
DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science,
particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics.
Looking back on a long tradition in research with synchrotron radiation, DESY
is currently developing into one of the leading centres in the field of photon
science worldwide. With the storage ring PETRA III and the Free-ElectronLaser FLASH, DESY offers a unique combination of photon sources to the
scientific community. PETRA III, one of the most brilliant hard X-ray facilities
in the world, provides a total of 14 undulator beamlines for experiments utilizing the extreme source brilliance. For the upcoming extension of the PETRA
III facility, DESY is seeking a scientist for the development and implementation of instrumentation for hard X-ray absorption and emission techniques at
the planned undulator beamline P64.
The position
• Implementation of novel X-ray spectroscopy methods in close collaboration with external groups
• Development of a user-friendly software application layer for experiment
control
• Participation in the commissioning of a new hard X-ray spectroscopy
beamline
• Development of own independent research and participation in collaborative projects with external groups
Requirements
• PhD in physics, chemistry or related disciplines
• Experience with X-ray spectroscopy methods using
synchrotron radiation
• Experimental skills and interest in instrumentation development
• Knowledge of object-oriented software development and design
• Teamwork abilities
• Excellent knowledge of English
For further information please contact Dr. Wolfgang Caliebe +49 40 89981646 or Dr. Edmund Welter +49 40 8998-4510.
