Multiple Sclerosis Relapse Assessment Clinic The patient is seen by the multiple sclerosis (MS) nurse specialist for a preliminary assessment and screening. A medical review and joint team decision on treatment is then reached with referral to the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) if required. If steroids are agreed the patient is taken to the relapse suite for the first infusion and subsequent infusions on the next two days. The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery Relapse Service also incorporates an educational package for patients and staff, and includes a resource pack for staff containing such tools as MSRS and MSIS-29 scales, integrated care pathways, emergency contact details and out of hours advice, assessment algorithms and corporate documentation and policy.
