Verb Tense Review The Importance of Time : Verb tense expresses the time of an event or action. Time and how it is expressed in writing is very important to English readers. The English language has twelve different tenses. In this lesson, we will review the meaning of each verb tense. The Present Simple Tense Expresses a habit or often repeated action. Adverbs of frequency such as, often, seldom, sometimes, never, etc. are used with this tense. Examples 1- She goes to work everyday. 2- They always eat lunch together. 3- Nurses look after patients in hospitals This tense also expresses general truths or facts that are timeless. Examples 1- Snow falls in the December in north of Iraq. 2- The sun rises from the east . 3- Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius. PASSIVE VOICE (Present simple tense) ACTIVE Example 1- My mother cleans my room . PASSIVE Example 1- My room is cleaned by my mother .
