Factiva
Finding newspaper articles
The database Factiva is particularly useful for finding articles about films and
TV programmes which have appeared too recently for academic articles to
have been published. This guide will show you the most efficient way to use it.
1. Go to the databases page on the Library catalogue at
http://webcat.warwick.ac.uk/search~S1/v
2. In the “Search for database name” box enter Factiva and click submit.
3. From the resource page that loads, follow the link to Factiva and log in
using your Warwick username and password.
4. On the database homepage enter your search term(s) in the prominent
search box. If you want to combine search terms you must connect
them with the word AND.
5. Be careful to notice the statement
in the Date box; this will determine
how far back your search will
cover. The safest pick from the
drop-down menu is “All Dates”.
6. For example, entering “Melissa McCarthy and Bridesmaids and weight”
will give you a list of newspaper articles from around the world
commenting on the actress’s weight and her role in Bridesmaids.
