COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Reviews the development of two-point, mechanical perspective drawing. Studies
freehand drawing and sketching methods of interior and exterior spaces.
Develops drawing techniques for interior perspective views of buildings.
Explores the use of various media to define light, shadows, textures and material
characteristics.
Prerequisites: ART 121 and IND 107 with grades of “C” or better, or consent of
coordinator.

METHODS OF PRESENTATION:
Lecture, demonstration, critiques.
STUDENT OUTCOMES:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should:
1. Draw a two-point mechanical perspective so as to better understand the
tree dimensional aspect of an architectural exterior.
2. Practice sketching techniques and the use of various media, such as
pencil and watercolor.
3. Balance color and mass in an architectural design drawing.
4. Define light, shadows, textures and material characteristics through
drawing.
5. Practice sketching architectural spaces.

6. Draw both interior and exteriors of buildings.
7. Draw and architectural detail.
8. Present drawings to the class and discuss the strengths and weaknesses
of the drawings.
9. Critique other student’s drawings.
METHODS OF EVALUATION:
Successful completion of a sketchbook, assigned drawing and rendering
projects.
