(displayed a portrait of my grandmother "Beloved Lady")
& YAYA Art Exhibition (displayed my “Blue Civil Series” of different
Black Civil Right Activists that fought for African American Rights:
Dr. King, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, and Angela Davis).
“10 Years Later—a Black Perspective”
“Stella Jones Gallery showcases the art of local, national and
international artists as we mark the tenth anniversary of
Hurricane Katrina.” This group exhibition of over 30 artists
including Xavier Alumni, Students, & Faculty: Cline Bailey,
Amy Bryan, Jeffrey Cook (RIP), MaPo Kinnord, Leah Labat,
Louise Mouton Johnson, Martin Payton, and John T. Scott (RIP)

Xavier is partnering with the Office of Mayor Mitch Landrieu to commemorate
the 10th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina SATURDAY (Aug. 29th). Faculty, staff, and students
are encouraged to meet at the University Center at 8am to participate in a day of service.

Congratulations! XUArt ‘Student Artist’ of the Month...Leland Johnson
A New Orleans native and St. Augustine High School graduate Class of 2014 earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.
2nd year XUArt Major, scholarship award recipient and “Xavier Herald” comic strip contributor has an eye for
graphics design and animation.
Joined other artists in November 2014 to work on a sculpture for Delgado’s P3 event. Made plastering easier
by tapping the edges of the sculptures’ framework. Also volunteers at the Contemporary Arts Museum
information desk.
